DOT Update: What's Happening in 2018

Chad Krueger has 13 years of insurance carrier/agency risk control experience and
almost 20 years working and focusing on fleet safety. He has an undergraduate degree
in Occupational Safety & Health Management from UW-Whitewater, is a OSHA General
Industry 10 & 30-hour authorized trainer, and a Homeland Security/ATA-Highway Watch
Trainer. He holds the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Commercial Lines
Coverage Specialist (CLCS) designations. Chad currently serves on the board of the
Nicolet Chapter of ASSE and the Wisconsin Motor Carriers Association (WMCA). He is
also a member of the American Trucking Associations Safety Management Council
(SMC), WMCA Wisconsin Council of Safety Supervisors (WCSS) and Fox Valley
Technical College-Truck Driving Program Advisory Committee.
Mark Abrahamson provides advisory services to motor carriers to reduce loss, increase
productivity, and grow confidence through simplifying knowledge of the DOT
compliance requirements. Mark comes to this industry after retiring with the Wisconsin
State Patrol after 27 years of commercial motor vehicle enforcement. This experience
has given Mark the ability to help motor carrier de-risk their business and navigate the
DOT regulatory requirements to place control back to the motor carriers and reduce

The Fox Valley Safety Council (FVSC) along with the Nicolet Chapter of ASSE are teaming up to host a
unique networking event for safety professionals in the Fox Valley. There will be a keynote speaker,
stadium tour, door prizes, dinner, and a Casino networking event to wrap up the festivities. There will be
Black Jack, Craps, and Roulette. Don’t worry if you do not know how to play these games, Casino
workers will show you how. Last year’s event was a lot of fun! Bring business cards so you can network
and get to know other safety professionals. What a great way to thank your safety committee team and
members for the work they do!
The cost is $20 per attendee. All attendees are required to pay in advance via PayPal to secure their

This month’s meeting will be at Boldt’s headquarters located on Roemer Road.
Ted Carew who is a Safety Manager and former Fox Valley Safety Council President
will discuss some of the safety items related to the construction industry as well as
some internal programs.
One of their internal processes is called “Predictive Solutions”. This is an audit which
looks at future incidents and how to eliminate them from occurring.
Another program is called “CSI” which is employee involvement process that allows
employees to identifying potential hazards or concerns from the field perceptive and
received rewards and recognition.
Ted will also discuss the new Silica regulations in how it relates to them as contractor
and as an employer.
As time permits, there will be a tour of their yard so dress accordingly to be outside and
walking. Please wear appropriate foot wear to walk, a possible jacket for being
outdoors, and bring safety glasses.
